THE RINGERVERSE'S MIDNIGHT METER
Starting in March 2021, The Ringer podcast network launched The Ringerverse, a podcast discussing "all things fandom," including Marvel, DCU, Star Wars and other franchise releases. The two longest running shows on the podcast are The House of R, featuring Mallory Rubin and Joanna Robinson, and The Midnight Boys, featuring Van Lathan, Charles Holmes, Jomi Adeniran, and Steve Ahlman. The latter birthed The Midnight Meter, a rating scale used for movie & series ratings; with a traditional rating scale to ten, but two midnight points reserved for true gamechangers (the coveted 12).
The Dashboard below catalogues the history of those ratings in the form of a histogram and a dot plot, analyzing patterns and disparities between the Midnight Boys, and, after users follow the "Click Here" button, they can see the quality of releases over time through the eyes of the Midnight Boys.
THE SPICY BITS
As fans of the Midnight Boys will confirm, the hosts' banter and chemistry is the secret sauce. No dashboard analyzing the podcast would be conclusive without looking at the scoring differences between the hosts for Men- vs Women-led properties or each Midnight Boy's biggest rating disagreement with the others on the pod.
To start, either select a Midnight Boys' avatar or click from the drop down menu right above the avatars. This will show their previous rankings and isolate the biggest disagreements your Midnight Boy has about fandom. Keep an eye out for whether they get a Kamala Khan badge or a Shame badge too!
